i moved!

i moved! come see me here:http://carrieferrier.blogspot.com/

july … where did you go?

here i sit, looking at all the things i have yet to do this month and seriously wondering WHERE did this month go? this month has been packed with all kinds of good things. fun and exciting things. some not so fun things. once again i look at a month gone by and know in my gut i am blessed.

july around the homefront: july 4th cupcakes. red angel pizza. low key holiday with family {my fav kind of holiday}. help sis with wedding programs. 2 weeks of working full time. meltdowns. maggie sick. 3 vet visits. pretty fingernails. pretty toenails. spray tans {YIKES!}. my niece, candi’s, beautiful wedding weekend.  new mercies every morning. wonderful relaxing dinners out. playing catch up. online photography helps. fun scrapping projects. photo editing. fabulous senior shoot. a dirty house.

that’s where i am now. amidst the dirty house. yeah, it’s bugging me. i tend to feel out of control when my surroundings are out of control. i’ve come a Loooooong way with that whole thing … but yeah, it bugs me. i wish i could put it in our budget for a maid. i can’t justify a maid. and truth be told, i’d most likely clean the house FOR the maid, so really what’s the use? 🙂

leaving the dirty house behind, i’m leaving on monday for CHA {for you non-scrappers, the Craft and Hobby Assoc. Show} in chicago. ed is going with me. well, he’s driving me, and eating dinners with me and my scrappy friends, and sharing the hotel room with me, but he’s staying clear of the show floor.

check out the new Shimmerz colors coming out at CHA!! our booth is # 839. what can i say? i love color … i love creating with these paints and sprays! can’t wait to get my hands on these new shades!

The two new Shimmerz Vibez colors are Fiery Fiesta (shown left) and Pop Art Pink (shown right). Fiery Fiesta is a beautiful light colored orange and Pop Art Pink is this great cotton candy pink with a HUGE gold shimmer to it. The 3 beautiful new Pearlz colors are (from top to bottom) Blue By You, Peas-B-Mine and Luscious Lilac. They are available  for purchase on the Shimmerz website on Tuesday, July 27th.
i’ll be working in the Punky Sprouts booth at CHA this year. booth # 2039! i’ll also be helping suzy with her punky class on tuesday night. FUN!!! i’ve got to say that i’m over the top excited!  i’m serious when i say if you’re at CHA, please stop by the booth and say hi!
here’s one of my projects i did that’ll be showcased in the booth. the new “junk in my punk”
i have every intention of posting a blog entry {or 2} while i’m at CHA … mr. nikon is going with me of course … let’s hope the hotel internet cooperates.

july … almost over … blessed … indeed!

it’s been a punky kind of week.

and i mean that in THE BEST possible way.

first of all, the FedX man dropped off a screamin’ fun box of Punky Sprouts goodies this week. the goodie box was full of some FUN Punky things for me to work on for an upcoming craft show. later in july {which i still can’t believe july is here already} i’ll be heading to chicago to the big craft and hobby show.  i’ll be working in the Punky Sprouts booth, meeting up with old and new scrappy friends {can’t wait!!!}, helping my new, very talented scrappy friend suzy west with her class, and walking the show floor drooling over the brand new product out there in scrappy land.

along with the Punky box, i got word today that there’s a fun contest over at the Punky Sprouts blog, as well as the announcement of this absolutely FUN new Punky album .. part of the new Suzy West Punky Collection!!!

“junk in my punk ” album {how fun is THAT name!!}

check out the blog for completed pages of the new albums: http://www.punkysprout.blogspot.com/; http://www.suzywest.blogspot.com/

I think this puts a new meaning to the phrase “I’ve been Punked” ! 🙂

in other news … my life has been full. and blessed. and busy. and happy. and challenging. and i’m growing and learning through all of it. it is my plan to share some of my full, blessed, busy, happy and challenging life with you all … it’ll have to be in separate posts or else i’d be writing {and you would reading} for days.

be back soon .. ~ carrie ~

i’m feelin’ blessed!

blessed is most definitely how i’m feeling right now. in the past couple months i’ve had amazing new scrapping opportunities come my way. it still blows my mind that about the time i stopped worrying and fretting about my scrappy endeavors, opportunities literally started coming my way out of no where. it humbles me. it excites me. it makes me feel truly blessed.

i’m crazy excited to share this with you …i’ve joined the Shimmerz design team this week! Click on the the Shimmerz Blog image below and it will take you directly to the blog.

Shimmerz Paints are pre-made, water based, made in the USA, paints. right now there are 70 {yes! .. seventy!} paint options available! i’ve been playing and creating with my paints this week and i am most definitely hooked! i absolutely love the texture and added “ooomph” they add to my pages. i can’t wait to share some of those projects in the near future.

for now i’ll share some of my other layouts i’ve done recently. i’m finding creating pages about the special people in my life comes easy for me these days. i’m not sure where the mojo came from, but i’m going with it … and having a sweet time doing it.

other than scrappy news … i’m lovin’ having dave home from college for the summer. he inspires and helps me grow in ways he probably doesn’t even realize. love him! we’re starting our vacation this weekend. going with my sisters, their families and my mom and dad. so looking forward to that sweet sweet time together.

yes, i’m blessed. life isn’t perfect, there is “stuff” going on around me that is out of my control. but in the midst of all the “stuff” and all the imperfections of life .. i am blessed. indeed!

~until next time … carrie ~ 🙂

BoBunny Flower Child!

i had the awesome pleasure, as may’s guest designer, to work with this fabulous new line from BoBunny called Flower Child. The colors are so vibrant and fun. one of my favorite things about BoBunny is how all their embellishments are effortless to use. they add texture and dimension to a page. couple the embellishments with the fabulous papers, and the possibilities are endless.

here’s what i had fun creating with Flower Child 🙂

#1 …a layout i did about my good friend, tina.

{journaling: it’s not just a cliche’ to say she is beautiful inside and out. it is truth. she puts her God and her family first. she faces adversity in a a spirit of prayer. she is a faithful wife, a loving daughter, a fabulous mother, mentor and friend to her 3 girls. she is fun, sincere, gentle and genuine. she is cute, fashionable, and gorgeous. and i’m proud to say she is my loyal friend}

#2 … a layout i did of my son and daughter in law.

#3 … a layout i did of my niece, gracie.

{journaling: a sunny day at the lake in may. an afternoon photo shoot. every girl should get their very own photo shoot. it’s a perfect way to boost the ole’ self esteem! all of us girls need a little bit of that! gracie. age 15. 2009}

i’ll be back tomorrow night with some fun and exciting news to share … and more scrappy projects to share too!  in the meantime, i’ve GOT to get busy and clean my messy house and messy scrapbook room. they are seriously out of control in a big way. i don’t do so well when things are messy. good thing i actually LIKE to clean and organize.

~ until next time … me. 🙂 ~

halfway through may

holy wow … is it really may 15 already? the past 10 days have flown by.

so let’s see …. in the past 10 days much has taken place. my sister and brother in law were out of the country, so i helped care for my niece, gracie. i took her to and from school. {i haven’t done the whole taking kids to school thing since before dave had his drivers license. that was a LONG time ago.} gracie and i did fun things too. we had a 2 hour photo shoot at the park. i’ll post some of those pictures in the next few days. we shopped at goodwill together. she got her skinny jeans for $2.50. i got 8 new summer shirts for $28. we ate together at dunkin donuts, 800 degrees pizza, red robin and culvers. i’m glad she’s in my life. i’m happy to be a cheerleader in her corner.

a week ago today we moved dave home from college for the summer. we ended up taking the shop’s big GInormous white box truck. yeah, total over kill. it was rainy that day … if we didn’t take the box truck the dorm room little blue couch would have gotten wet. dang, we seriously could have packed the whole dorm in that truck. it was a tad bit embarrassing rollin’ up to the back of the dorm in that thing. but move him home we did.

scrapping has been a huge part of the last 10 days. i’m working on some pretty exciting new things. some of those things are things i can’t share YET … but soon. i’ll be sharing my next bobunny guest designer projects at the beginning of next week, along with some of my layouts from the challenge blogs i design for.

i’ve been spending more time journaling, praying, and reading my Bible these last 10 days. i seek God’s leading. i learned a long time ago i desperately NEED His leading .. and to depend on myself for being in the lead just does not work at all. at all!

~ until next time … carrie 🙂 ~

bobunny goodness!! …and more

guest designing for BOBUNNY this month has been an absolute blast! {and i’m not even 1/2 way through the month yet! yay!}

a few days ago i showed you peeks of my BOBUNNY projects. today i’m showing the full images and a brand new project i made yesterday. make sure you click on the BOBUNNY blinkie to the right to see what the other designers have created. their inspirations are …well …. inspiring and fabulous to say the least!

check out my stuff.  🙂

{mr. nikon journaling: there’s so much to learn about my mr. nikon. aperture. f-stops. shutter speed. ISO. white balance. focus. depth of field. lighting. much to learn. loving every second of it}

{kris journaling – a special Bible passage for her and i: …he who created you; he who formed you. fear not, for i have redeemed you; i have summoned you by name; you are mine. when you pass through the waters, i WILL be with you. and when you pass through the rivers, they will NOT sweep over you. when you walk through the fire, you will NOT be burned; the flames will NOT set you ablaze. for i am the Lord, your God … your Savior. Isaiah 43}

and here’s my brand new project – a Mother’s Day gift idea. I picked up this gorgeous ceramic pot at Hobby Lobby….perfect for the vintagey mama-razzi line from BOBUNNY!

 my flowers were easy peasy to make. here’s what i did:

For 1 individual flower, I cut 5 different circles out of paper. I used a Tupperware lid for the circle template. After cutting out the circles, fold the circles in 1/2. After folding in ½, accordion fold the folded circles at the bottom and sew the circles together. Glue a wooden craft stick {purchased at Hobby Lobby} in the middle of the sewn petals. Attach flowers and buttons/brads to the middle of the flower.

besides doing all kinds of fun scrappy things, i’m putting alot of time and mental energy into my photography and the upcoming shoots i’ll be doing. my absolute favorite kind of shoot is the casual, “this is me right now” kind of shoot.

 i had that kind of fun, low key shoot with my mom 2 days after she got out of the hospital with pneumonia. i suggested we go out back and take some shots by their barn. i have more to go through and edit, but here are 2 shots from that day that i adore.

thank you for stopping by …. until next time …. xoxo carrie

~ me. carrie. ~

fun stuff! not so fun stuff.

the fun stuff:

as i type this i’m sitting in a hotel in chicago. why you ask? tomorrow morning i eat a big power breakfast and then head to a 2 day Nikon School here in the hotel convention room. SO excited to learn all that these Nikon experts have to teach me about my Mr. Nikon D80. ed is here with me. i’m not sure what he’ll be doing. in fact, i think he’s getting sick so he might just be veggin’ here in the room. hopefully we’ll fit in a nice dinner at a nearby amazing restaurant.

other fun stuff: i got a new short and sassy hair cut.

and MORE fun stuff: i grabbed my niece kris and my new nephew in law for some pics on Easter. love these 2 “kids”. 🙂

and MORE fun stuff!!! i got a call today from the fun and talented Suzy West. she called me to let me know i made the Punky Sprouts design team. what is “Punky Sprouts” you ask? it is a company that manufactures mixed media albums. i have the privilege of creating with these albums. wow! i’m STILL on cloud nine and grinning from ear to ear. what an absolute honor! check out these fun and unique albums.

Seedling Series

check out the Punky Sprouts Gallery to see what Suzy and a couple other gals did with the albums: http://www.punkysprouts.com/designs.htm

MORE fun stuff: i got 2 happy emails from scrapbook trends magazine this week. they asked for 2 of my layouts for their september issue. i made a trip to the post office today. my 2 selected layouts are on their way to utah! thank you scrapbook trends!

okay, so now for the not so fun stuff.  my mom has been in the hospital all week with pneumonia. she’s had a rough, rough week! mom, if you’re reading this, i’m praying for you, i love you.

more not so fun stuff …. my dad is battling cancer. he’s so brave. his faith is strong. he never complains. i have to say i really hate the word cancer. i hate the pain it causes. dad, if you are reading this, i’m praying for you, and i love you!

i’ve been busy working on my client’s vacation album. she went to australia and new zealand. i am vacationing vicariously through her photos. 🙂 i am ever so thankful that she chose me to scrapbook for her. she’s a cancer suvivor. she’s brave and down to earth and “real”. i didn’t know her at all before i started scrapping for her. in the 5 years i’ve known her we have become close. i’ve never met her family but because i scrap their pictures and their memories i feel like i know them. i thank God often for bringing this opportunity to me.

the clock is ticking. i need some rest before i fill my head with all kinds of cool Nikon information tomorrow. 🙂

until next time……xoxo Carrie
